New to Electrolysis

Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal!

If you’re wondering what to expect at an electrolysis treatment appointment, here are a few answers.

  1. You will be asked to complete a health history questionnaire. Please be honest. All information is confidential and will be kept private.

  2. Treatment office will be clean and sanitized for your safety.

  3. A new and sterile probe will be used at the start of every appointment. Each probe will be discarded after your treatment session.

  4. In order to try to keep you distracted, I will engage you in conversation or play music. The goal is for you to be as comfortable as possible during treatment. Tell your electrologist if you prefer to keep quiet for duration of treatment if that is your preference.

  5. Your electrologist will ask how you are feeling during treatment in order to find and work as close to your pain threshold as possible. Working close to this threshold will achieve the most effective treatment.

There are many options available for your hair removal needs. However, if you want your hair to be gone permanently, then your decision is easy with electrolysis. Below are some guidelines to be followed before treatment and after treatment.

“BEFORE TREATMENT” TO DO LIST

Stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water and keep area to be treated well moisturized and clean. Hair removal will be easier on moist skin.

Plan Ahead for Managing Pain

A numbing cream can be applied prior to arriving for your appointment. These can be purchased online or at pharmacy. Stronger ones can be prescribed by your physician.

Be Honest

Complete all forms provided truthfully and disclose any health conditions which could affect treatment.

Consult Your Physician

Speak to your physician about any medical concerns that could be affecting your hair growth. Your physician can also prescribe stronger numbing creams if you find them necessary.

“AFTER TREATMENT” TO DO LIST

Soothe and Stay Clean

Witch hazel and aloe vera will both help soothe the skin. Keep your face clean by gently washing.

Reduce Inflammation

Use a cold compress if you notice any swelling.

Cataphoresis

Often times, the electrologist may choose to use cataphoresis, a post epilation treatment option performed to help restore the skin after hair removal.

Schedule Next Appointment

Schedule next appointment to continue with your permanent hair removal.

“After Treatment” DO NOT DO LIST

Wax, Tweeze or Thread

If hair must be removed between appointment, DO NOT wax, tweeze or thread. Avoid hair removal methods which are removing hair by the root. You can shave or clip the hair as needed.

Remove Scabs

Never pick at scabs which may form after electrolysis treatments. It’s completely normal for scabs to form. Removing them can cause scars and infection.

Increase Risk of Infection

You can avoid infection by not touching, scratching or picking at treated area.
